John Brice has worked in journalism and public relations since 1980. His journalism work has been featured by media outlets including The Times (London), the Los Angeles Times, Billboard magazine, San Diego magazine and NBC-TV news in San Diego (KNSD). His PR work has been honored by Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, the California Travel & Tourism Commission, the Public Relations Society of America and the Public Relations Club of San Diego.
John is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego (B.A. Political Science) and was a UC-exchange student at the University of Stirling in Scotland.
After graduating from the UCSD, John was named business editor at the La Jolla Light newspaper. Subsequently, John completed many freelance business-writing assignments for publications including the San Diego Business Journal, the San Diego Evening Tribune (since merged into the Union-Tribune), San Diego Daily Transcript and San Diego Magazine.
In 1984, John joined the San Diego Padres as director of sales and marketing for its Teleseat Ticketing Company, helping make it San Diego’s largest event ticketing company before it was sold in 1986 to Ticketmaster.
In 1986, John founded Brice & Associates, a public relations firm producing measurable business improvement by positively influencing media behavior through communication of interesting story ideas and information.
John is past board member of the Anza-Borrego Foundation, La Jolla Rotary, La Jolla YMCA and served as PTA President at La Jolla Elementary School. John is currently on La Jolla High School’s Governance Board. He is a longtime member of the San Diego Press Club and the La Jolla Historical Society.
John grew up on the Southside of Chicago and has lived in San Diego since 1979.
